Phinisi Boat-A Symbol of the Bugis' Seafaring Tradition

Phinisi Boat: A Symbol of the Bugis' Seafaring Tradition (2023)
“On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty.” —Rumi
Phinisi boat is known as Bugis traditional ship from South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The unique part of this ship is it has two masts and seven sails. Inspired by the uniqueness and history of the phinisi boat, I drew it in black and white drawing style.
Several elements of this drawing represent several meanings. The sun represents a hope so this ship will always exist in Indonesian culture.
The compass and the waves represent the symbol of sailing, just like the phinisi boat.
Three flowers near the compass represent the three tribes in South Sulawesi: the tribe of Desa Ara (Ara Village), Tanah Lemo, and Bira. They are the tribes who make the phinisi boat in South Sulawesi, and they are also mentioned in the legend of the phinisi boat.
